A warm August Whitsunday Wedding

Kate and Ricky got together with sixty people at the Villa Botanica at Airlie Beach. Everyone was from everywhere but the Whitsundays and everyone was totally awed by it. The Vila is an artwork and was a dreamy backdrop to a memorable day. We all have stories and I've found out a littte about  one of Ricky's since the Wedding. You should do a search for the book "Left for Dead", it's a jaw dropping true story and the before and after photo's leave one sctratching one's head.

Xmas in New York 1990

It was xmas'90 and these merchants were selling to people at the Battery Park Ferry Terminal. They could have been refugees or the urban poor, kind of the same thing really.
My feet and jaw were frozen and the guy in the middle got my heart racing. I just kept moving

Tex Perkins and Slim Chances

I was working with Jon Paterson in 2000 in a studio in Lismore. Jon's brother Murray is a talented musician/singer/songwriter who often plays with Tex Perkins.

Word came through that Tex was after a particular shot for his new album and we were the chosen ones. It was a pure stroke of luck, Tex was an international star with a legendary reputation, and I had no reputation at all. After tossing a few ideas around we decided to do the shoot in the back alley behind the studio. Jono was using a  hose and at the same time manually triggering a softbox during the time exposure. Tex set off his own flash inside the car, Murray kept everyone amused and I took the shot. Tex is as cool and gracious in person as he is onstage.

Has it been serendipity, sychronicity, six degrees of seperation or all of the above?

Just after I photographed Tex, local Irish rocker Roy Wilders came in one day with is baby son Keiran and beautiful wife Fiona for some family piccies. It came out that Roy was a singer and was interested in some portraits. A few weeks later we met at a dilapidated car wreckers along Manifold Road at Bentley. A storm brewed up and just before we had the heebie jeebies put up us by some lightning close by, a few things came together for this shot. As a result I soon met Troy Cassar Daley and did a few album covers with him which I'll talk about soon.

Shannon and Carl get married, September 26 2009.

Shannon and Carl's wedding coincided with two other historic events. It was AFL grand final day, and Brisbane had it's second "once in a lifetime " dust storm in a week. Every aspect of the wedding was tasteful and chic c/- a Paul Hunt masterpeice and great locations, and lot's and lot's of fun. Mother nature ran amuck just after dusk as the city was covered in a "Bladerunneresque" haze.
